INAUGURAL CEREMONY OF DISTRICT LEVEL CULTURAL COMPETITION

The Inaugural Ceremony of the District Level Cultural Competition for I PUC and II PUC students was held on 19th November 2025 at the Vidyodaya Pre-University College Auditorium, under the joint auspices of the Department of School Education (Pre-University), the Karnataka State Students’ Welfare Fund, and the Udupi District Aided and Unaided Pre-University College Principals’ Association (R.), Udupi. The event was inaugurated with great pomp and flair, setting a vibrant tone for the days of artistic exploration and talent showcase ahead. The competition aims to promote cultural activities and provide a platform for students to exhibit their talents.
The function was graced by the esteemed presence of the Chief Guests: Mr. Yashpal Anand Suvarna, Member of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly; Mr. M. A. Gafoor, Chairman of the Karavali Development Board; Mr. Maruthi, the DDPU of Udupi District; and Sri K. Ganesh Rao, Secretary of the College Management Committee, along with other distinguished invitees and dignitaries.
The programme began with a melodious prayer song by Ananya and Lahari, followed by a warm welcome speech delivered by Sri Sandeep Kumar, Principal, Vidyodaya P.U. College, Udupi. The ceremony was formally inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp by Sri K. Ganesh Rao, along with other dignitaries.
Sri Yashpal Suvarna, the Chief Guest, in his inspiring address, praised the participants for their dedication and appreciated the organisers for putting together such a spectacular event. Another Chief Guest, Mr. M. A. Gafoor, highlighted the importance of cultural events in holistic development.
In his inaugural speech, Sri K. Ganesh Rao emphasised the importance of extracurricular activities in students’ lives and wished them success in all their future endeavours.
Sri Maruthi, the DDPU of Udupi District, in his presidential address, elaborated on the various cultural competitions and emphasised positive thinking and skill-based education among students.
Sri Dr. Dayananda Pai, President of the Udupi District Aided and Unaided Pre-University College Principals’ Association (R.), Udupi, also extended his best wishes to the participants.
The successful inauguration set a high standard for the competitions to follow. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Sri Shivaprasad Bhat, Lecturer in Sanskrit, marking a grand beginning to the cultural competitions.
